Congratulations to our School-based Technology Specialist Willa McGrath on her recognition in the Growth Category at the 2022 FCPS Excellence Awards Ceremony!

The FCPS Excellence Awards event was held at Fairfax High School on October 12 and was attended by Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid, members of the FCPS Leadership Team, members of the FCPS School Board, and other distinguished guests.

Individual Excellence Awards recognizes staff members of employees who exceed expectations in supporting the initiatives of the FCPS strategic plan. Award categories include: Growth, Impact on Others, Innovation and Student Achievement.

The following excerpt from Ms. McGrath's nomination packet was read while she received her certificate from Dr. Michelle Reid, Deputy Superintendent Dr. Frances Ivy, Region 1 Assistant Superintendent Douglas Tyson, and members of the FCPS School Board.

Willa is the heartbeat of her school. There is not a program, process, or service that she hasn’t directly improved. She models compassionate and equitable access to instruction through mentoring new classroom teachers, and she created a leadership program for students identified at risk. Willa is an exceptional leader herself as she champions staff development, providing a welcoming space for staff to learn and experiment with new applications, tools, and technology. She also leads our Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) committee, fostering rich conversations focused on student achievement driven by data.

Thank you, Ms. McGrath, for all that you do for the Floris Eagles!
